Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using Galaxyglot ("the Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

2. Description of Service

Galaxyglot is a vocabulary learning application that uses spaced repetition and galaxy-themed quizzes to help users learn Slovene, English, and Spanish. The Service includes social features such as invite links and following other learners, and is available in multiple interface languages. The Service is provided for personal, non-commercial educational use.

3. Accounts

You must create an account to use most features of the Service. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account. You must provide accurate information when registering and promptly update it if it changes.

You must be at least 13 years old to create an account. If you are under 18, you confirm that you have your parent or guardian's permission to use the Service.

Some accounts may be granted additional roles - Tester, Curator (for one or more languages), or Admin - which unlock extra functionality such as early features, content moderation tools, or user administration. Roles are granted at our discretion, including via invite links, and may be revoked at any time.

4. Invites, Roles & Permissions

Registered users may generate invite links or QR codes to invite others to join the Service. Invite links may have an expiry date and/or a maximum number of uses, and - where created by an Admin - may grant the recipient a Tester, Curator, or Admin role upon registration.

You are responsible for who you share your invite links with. We may revoke an invite link, or any role granted through one, at any time without notice.

Users with a Curator or Admin role may access word reports, feedback, and administrative tools solely to maintain and improve the Service, and must not use that access for any other purpose.

5. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

  • Use the Service for any unlawful purpose or in violation of these Terms.
  • Attempt to gain unauthorised access to any part of the Service or its related systems.
  • Upload, transmit, or distribute any content that is harmful, offensive, or infringes third-party rights.
  • Misuse the invite system to spam, harass, or mislead others, or to obtain roles or permissions you are not entitled to.
  • Submit false, abusive, or spam word reports or feedback.
  • Scrape, crawl, or otherwise extract data from the Service without prior written consent.
  • Reverse-engineer, decompile, or disassemble any part of the Service.

6. User Content, Feedback & Reports

If you upload word lists, custom content, or any other data ("User Content"), you retain ownership of that content. By uploading it you grant Galaxyglot a worldwide, royalty-free licence to store, display, and use it solely to provide the Service to you.

You warrant that your User Content does not infringe any third-party intellectual property rights and that you have all necessary rights to grant the licence above.

If you submit feedback or report an issue with a word or other content, you grant us the right to use, store, and act on that submission - including sharing it with our Curators and Admins for review - without any obligation to compensate you or to disclose how it is used.

7. Intellectual Property

All content, design, code, trademarks, and other materials comprising the Service are owned by or licensed to Galaxyglot and are protected by applicable intellectual property laws. Nothing in these Terms transfers any ownership rights to you.

8. Disclaimers

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. We do not guarantee that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of viruses or other harmful components.

9. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Galaxyglot shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising out of or relating to your use of the Service, even if advised of the possibility of such damages. Our total liability to you for any claim shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the twelve months preceding the claim, or €10, whichever is greater.

10. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your account at any time if we reasonably believe you have violated these Terms. You may delete your account at any time via the Settings panel. Upon termination, your right to use the Service ceases immediately; provisions that by their nature should survive will continue to apply.

11. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by posting a notice in the Service or by email. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.

12. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Slovenia, without regard to its conflict-of-law provisions. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Ljubljana, Slovenia.
